Wedding Maps… September 5, 2008

I am in love with these custom wedding maps from www.couturemaps.com! The only problem is that they are not accepting any new orders until MAY 2009!!!

So I thought I would give you a few other options! www.weddingmapper.com allows you to create a custom online wedding map which you can then link to your personal wedding websites or just send the link to friends and family via email! They also have diy instructions for making your own custom printable wedding maps…all for free! If you want custom wedding maps made and printed for you, check out these alternatives: www.invitationmaps.com, www.snappymap.com and www.distinctivedirections.com. I also found www.jimhuntillustration.com, which features custom made wedding maps by the cartoonist who draws the Dennis the Menace comics, if you can believe that! I am not certain if he is still taking requests, but it is worth a look!

And lastly, to keep with the map theme I’ve got going on…check out www.maptote.com! They have city map totes that make for awesome OOT gift bags or bridesmaid gifts! San Diego totes were not available when I was planning my wedding, but I was told new cities are on the way!

Ok…this is the last map related item I LOVE….City Map Pillows that are hand stitched by Cat Studio. I lived in both NYC and LA so I have both pillows. Not really wedding related, but I just had to share! www.catstudio.com

I filled my martha stewart favor boxes with green and brown m&m’s and gave them out as bridal shower favors. I was going to do the custom m&m’s but since my wedding colors were granny apple green and chocolate brown, I saved money by just using the regular green/brown m&m’s! Anyways, I just wanted to show you some of the SUPER CUTE favor boxes as seen on www.marthastewart.com! I used the white eyelet ones seen below:

OK GIRLS…you may be much more computer saavy than me, but I just found out how to make an inspiration board on powerpoint! This one below was only my first try,  but inspiration boards are great for when you are trying to come up with a color scheme or if you just want to make a collage of great inspirational pictures when you are planning your wedding. If you are just browsing on the internet and see a great idea, save the picture to your computer and then you can make a board of your own whenever you want! I just changed the file to a jpeg file and tah dah! I will have to make a better one for you all soon! Happy Planning!!!

My Bridal Shower Invitation… July 29, 2008

I found my invitations at Paper Paper in Del Mar. If I remember correctly, they were $15.00 for 10 ( I bought 20). They were also going to charge me $30.00 to print them so I just bought some card stock and cut it into the same tag shape and did a trial on my personal printer. It worked perfectly so since I splurged a bit on the invitations, I saved by printing them myself. I could not find a website for Paper Paper but here are the invitations I got ——> http://www.polkadotdesign.com/catalog/Mara_Mi/MM-MM08670.

Of course I just found these instructions online after the fact, but hopefully it saves you time!

This is such a cute idea…especially for beach themed or near the beach weddings! As a favor, you fill a bucket with flip flops near the entrance or maybe by the dance floor. I know my feet were killing me at my wedding! I found this super cute bucket at http://www.roomservicehome.com/prodinfo.asp?number=GM129309. It is a little pricey at $58.00, but you could just use a few aluminum ones and make signs to match your color theme. Also, Michaels is having a sale on foam flip flops this week for only $1.00 each! I am loving this idea..

Polaroid is discontinuing their instant film products which means no more polaroid wedding guest books! I just cant believe it!!! And just when it seemed to be the hottest trend making a comeback! It was so fun looking at all of the pics that our friends took the day after the wedding and I just LOVE how our guestbook turned out. I just had to break mine out again and look at it! You can read more at www.polaroid.com.
